KAMU White Paper 2009

KAMU’s White Paper 2009: The Small Business Case for Supporting the Health Care Safety Net in Kansas, is now available.

The nation’s economy relies on a healthy workforce to thrive. Having access to health services increases the number of healthy workers and their productivity in the workforce. This access to health services is especially important in the case of small businesses where many low-income people are employed. Safety net clinics are located close to where many low-income people live and work. Because of the location and mission of safety net clinics, mutually beneficial opportunities may exist for small business employers, who cannot afford the cost of health insurance, to work with safety net clinics to improve the health of low-income workers.
