KAMU is committed to connecting its member organizations with community-based health professionals interested in providing comprehensive primary health care services in a mission-driven environment to medically underserved populations. To meet the growing demand for these health professionals, KAMU's Workforce Development program assist its members through recruitment assistance, the SEARCH program, scholarship and loan repayment information, the KAMU Job Board and retains professionals through the Kansas Clinicians' Network.

National Health Service Corps: Student/Resident Experiences And Rotations inCommunity Health (SEARCH) SEARCH is an exciting community health program available for health professions students and residents. It is a partnership between KAMU, The Primary Care Association of Kansas, KU Area Health Education Centers, and the National Health Service Corps. The SEARCH program is funded through a grant from the National Health Service Corp, provides health professions students and residents with opportunities to work on interdisciplinary health care teams, providing a unique primary care training experience working with people in underserved rural and urban areas. SEARCH training sites are located in Health Professional Shortage Areas in the state and are in both rural and urban settings. This program expands opportunities for participants to enhance their community involvement skills while also gaining valuable clinical training in underserved areas. For more information on SEARCH click here National Health Service Corps and State Loan Repayment Program The National Health Service Corps (NHSC), through scholarship and loan repayment programs, helps Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) in the U.S. get the medical, dental and mental health providers they need to meet their desperate need for health care. Scholarship Program — provides scholarships for training of health professionals, including primary care physicians, who agree to serve in designated shortage areas. National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program — provides loan repayment to health professionals, including primary care physicians and midlevel providers, who agree to serve in the National Health Service Corps in designated shortage areas selected by the Department of Health and Human Services. To inquire about National Health Service Corps visit http://nhsc.bhpr.hrsa.gov/ State Loan Repayment Program - The Office of Local and Rural Health (OLRH) administers a State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) to help with repayment of educational loans for graduates of health professional programs. Kansas Clinicians' Network The mission of Kansas Clinicians’ Network (KCN) is “to enable practitioners across the state of Kansas, regardless of clinical setting, to access resources, information, and other assets so that patient care is enhanced and disparities diminished.” Click here for more information. Other Employment Resources 3RNet The National Rural Recruitment & Retention Network (3R Net) states are not-for profit organizations helping health professionals find practice opportunities in rural areas throughout the country. Kansas Recruitment Center The Kansas Recruitment Center (KRC), whose mission is to assist Kansas’ rural communities in recruiting and retaining physicians and other health care professionals. Rural health care organizations utilizing KRC receive placement assistance and job opportunity postings through the Kansas Recruitment Center. KRC ensures that the hiring process proceeds smoothly and provides ongoing support and information about health care hiring trends to health care organizations.
