Kansas Clinicians' Network
KAMU has supported the Kansas Clinicians’ Network (KCN) since its inception in 1998. The mission of KCN is “to enable practitioners across the state of Kansas, regardless of clinical setting, to access resources, information, and other assets so that patient care is enhanced and disparities diminished”.
Clinician is defined as any individual providing health care services to the medically disadvantaged. This includes, but is not limited to physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, nurses (RN, LPN), clinical medical assistants, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, optometrists, podiatrists, health educators, nutritionists, counselors, social workers, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Any person meeting the definition of clinician, and who works in a primary care safety net clinic that provides services to underserved populations is eligible for membership. This includes all clinicians in federally funded centers (FQHC), non-BPHC supported NHSC sites, FQHC look-alike, and primary care safety net clinics. AmeriCorps members and any community health outreach workers can also be considered for membership.
KCN has started two new subcommittees. A Medical Director Subcommittee and a Dental Directors Subcommittee are being developed. If you are a medical or dental provider and are interested in being part of these groups please contact KAMU.
The subcommittees will encourage the development of best practices and networks among peers, as well as promotion and identification of trainings.
