What is Community Development?

We, here at KAMU, define community development broadly to include efforts aimed at growing, strengthening and sustaining the health care safety net in Kansas . These efforts encompass everything from working with communities to establish new clinics to helping existing clinics with expansion (into dental or behavioral health, for instance) and capacity building projects.

What Community Development services does KAMU provide?

KAMU provides an array of services aimed at growing, strengthening and sustaining the primary care safety net in Kansas.

Services include:

Presentations to communities interested in establishing a new clinic about different models of delivering primary care.

Focused technical assistance on developing new Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) or FQHC Look A-Likes.

Administrative and operational technical assistance to existing clinics involved in expansion and capacity building projects.

Linking communities and existing clinics to expert outside consultation and technical assistance in the areas of review and development of grant proposals, community needs assessment, feasibility studies, operational and administrative diagnostic reviews and related services.
